JavaScript Courses for CodingNomads
01/02/2021
When I started learning to code, I found it difficult to find resources that were suitable for complete beginners. I felt like I needed someone to talk to about all things programming. I needed a mentor. For that reason, I signed up with Coding Nomads. I greatly enjoyed the experience and it helped me lay the foundation for my career as a developer.
When the Covid 19 pandemic hit in 2020, CodingNomads was looking to expand their course offerings. Since I had been sharing my own JavaScript learning journey on their forums they asked me to author some material on JavaScript.
Over the next few years I authored two full JavaScript courses:
I wrote these courses as resources that my past self would have been grateful for. While they do presuppose some cursory knowledge of HTML and CSS, they are aimed at complete beginners to programming. The HTML and CSS knowledge can be gained in a day or two at the same time as completing the course.
The great thing about choosing JavaScript as a first language is that it’s incredibly accesible, all you need to get started is access to an internet browser on a laptop or desktop. No need to download any software or set up a development environment if you don’t want to!
Shortly after finishing JavaScript 201, CodingNomads offered me a job as a founding engineer for their new platform. The task was to build the next generation of their learning platform from scratch. It was a fantastic experience!
